Keighley Bowlers Bowl out Bowling Old Lane.

Keighley 1st X1 gained a welcome 17pts on a day for the seamers at Lawkholme Lane.  Batting first Keighley got off to a steady start, reliable opening pair Bottomley and Waggett battling their way to 24 before Bottomley was trapped LBW for 7. 

 

No 3 Imran Patel joined Wagget out in the middle their partnership lasting only 5 balls, Waggett caught for 16. Simon Bailey soon followed out LBW for 5.

 

With Keighley wobbling at 30 for 3 Max Davidson and Patel`s 4th wicket partnership added 33 valuble runs. Davidson looked in good touch contributing 18 runs with some well timed boundaries. With nearly 30 overs remaining Keighley needed to dig in if they were going to bat out their quota,  this they did Patel and Quinlan batting a further 10 overs before Quinlan(24) departed with score on 99.

 

U17 Wicketkeeper batsmen Jonny Wilkinson and Captain Steve Reape both contributed 5 Runs whilst Imran Patel`s gritty 35 saw Keighleys total climb to over 120.  Patel innings finally coming to an end to a peach of a catch from Old Lanes Sri Lankan Keeper Mapa Bandara.

 

Keighleys lower order adding a further 31 to the total. Towler (19 not out), Hoyle (10) and Ash Robinson seeing Keighley to what proved to be a winning 153.

Ross Towler and Paul Quinlan opened the bowling for Keighley. Quinlan making a breakthrough in his first over,  claiming the wicket of Ali,  trapped LBW for zilch. Quinlan again contributed to the fall of the second wicket this time taking a superb low catch at third man off the fiery bowler of Towler.

 

Old Lanes overseas player Mapa Bandara had no answer to the now fired up Quinlan out LBW without troubling the scorers. No 4 Ramzan fell to a corking one handed diving catch again Quinlan the benificary of keeper Wilkinsons athletic effort.

 

Towlers fiery spell from the scoreboard end saw the fall of the 5th wicket, a mistimed pullshot caught at mid wicket by Ash Robinson.

 

A double bowling change saw captain Steve Reape and Jake Hoyle join the attack both taking a brace of wickets. Reape finishing with 2 for 4 off 5 overs including 4 maidens and Hoyle 6 overs - 3 maidens - 2 for 11. Towler returned to the attack to mop up the tail giving Keighley a deserved 47 run victory.
